SG-1 Patches

Patches! What would your stargate outfit be without patches?

SG-1 sports two patches on their jackets for the first couple seasons and then adds a third patch later on. The Stargate Project Earth Symbol 3.5" Patch is located on their left shoulder above the pocket. Notice the Earth patch does not directly line up with the pocket but is placed slightly to the right above it.

The Stargate SG-1 SG Team Unit Black/Silver 4" Patch is located on the right shoulder. (I will write a post later on explaining how and where to accurately put on the patches.)

The third patch is located below the SG Team patch on the right shoulder: the Stargate USAF Black/Gray Service 3" Patch.

I got all three patches at Patchgeeks.com for $9.50 each and they are excellent! Plus, free shipping! Be sure to get the right sizes for each.

SG-1 Vest

Another essential part of your Stargate outfit is the vest. It's the Blackhawk Omega Elite Vest Medic/Utility.

It has a pocket on the front of each shoulder with snaps and six main pockets on the torso with velcro. But, since the beginning of the show, Blackhawk has made changes to what the back looks like. So, if you want a canon (exactly like the show) vest, you'll have to modify it. Blackhawk uses a completely different back now than before, and it's attached with buckles instead of being laced down the sides.

So the only way to get the original 'back' would be to buy another vest that has it. A little tip here: if you're planning on doing the Atlantis outfit also, you might as well buy that vest because it does have the right back. That's what I did and now whichever vest I want to wear, I just switch the back and lace it up!

This is the Atlantis vest, which they still make with the correct back used in SG-1. It has three bars of velcro across the back and it's attached with laced grommets on the sides, and velcro straps on the shoulders. You can get it here: ironfoot.co.uk. Go to the shop, type in the search, 'web-tex tactical vest', and it will be about the eighth one down.
You can get the Blackhawk Omega Elite Vest Medic/Utility on amazon.com, as well as lapolicegear.com
I'm sure there are more places to find these vests so look everywhere!

Now for all the wonderful modifying. I will most likely go into more details in another post but for now, here is a link to someone who modified their SG-1 vest, http://www.scifihero.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=6310. And TeeKay gives very detailed steps to follow that made it easy to follow. But be prepared for a long process. It's worth it, though.

SG-1 Flight Jacket

Ah, Stargate. The show that takes you off to another world and teaches you all about astrophysics along the way (thanks to Carter's geek-talk). I didn't actually know about the show until it was over. After a friend introduced me, I was hooked and already wanting to have my own off-world outfit.
It took a ton of research and planning but I'm happily satisfied with what I ended up with. I'll go over all the pieces so you can have your very own off-world outfit, but first we'll start with just the jacket:

At the very beginning, they used a more swishy satin material but then later switched to the mountain cloth. I got mine here: gibson-barnes.com
Go to Flight Jackets under Product Categories. You want the one labeled WEP/A Mountain Cloth in olive green:

The jackets they used in the show also have lining or thinsulate that you can get as well, especially if you want a canon outfit. It's a little bit more but so worth it.
The WEP/A Mountain cloth flight jacket has two pockets with snaps on the front, one smaller one with a snap on the left arm, zips up and has a button thingy on the left side of the collar. Select 'Choose Options' and it will bring up a small window to choose color, sizing, etc. You want olive for color, and whatever will fit best. No worries, you can return or exchange for another size if it doesn't fit quite right. Just make sure it's in good condition and doesn't have any Jaffa staff blast holes or anything...
As far as sizing goes, I got a ladies large regular (I'm 5'8"), and it fits excellent.
Any questions or picture requests, just message me! Hope this helps!

*EDIT 7/11/15: gibson-barnes.com is no longer (or at least for the time being) selling the WEP/A Mountain cloth Flight Jackets! Hopefully, they'll bring them back, but in the mean time, there are sure to be other places to find this piece, or one that looks similar!
